Success begins with failure

Buying an investment property is a big decision and serious commitment, so having the right team behind you is not only important, but a necessity for long-term investment success. For Ironfish customer, JC, his first property investment experience using a different company was less than ideal. But after being introduced to Ironfish and Glen Waverley strategist, Nicole Liu, his situation changed dramatically.

“We tried to invest in property in the past but had bad experiences with another company…they failed to follow up with builders, had issues with the bank… Overall, it was a bad experience and we had to sell at a loss.

The big decision to invest again

When JC first planned to invest, he was thinking about buying a second-hand house on a big block of land, with the view to develop the property in future. As a very busy medical professional, he soon realised that this may not be the most suitable option for him.

“Through Ironfish and Nicole’s help, we broadened our property knowledge by learning about new and off-the-plan opportunities. With the maintenance costs that often come with old properties, we realised this might not be ideal for us.

“The properties we’ve invested in now are off-the-plan which has also had the benefit to help us prepare along the way without being immediately tied down. Since meeting Nicole in February 2019, JC has purchased five properties with Ironfish in 10 months. He equates his success and confidence to invest as a result of his trusting relationship with his Ironfish strategist.

Property is for the long term

There are many reasons to invest in property but JC’s motivations and decisions to invest in property all come through taking a long-term perspective.

“My wife and I are both in a high tax bracket and initially wanted ways to reduce tax. We see the property market as a stable market when compared to shares which have many fluctuations. In the property market, the worst scenario is little to no growth – which to us makes sense as a much more stable long-term option that’s right for us.”

“Property is a way to prepare for the future, our kids and future retirement plans. Now that we have our investments lined up for the next few years, we are happy to slow down a little bit. We’re still open to the idea of new properties and in terms of moving forward – we want to make use of the opportunities available from Ironfish.”

Be prepared – make sure you have the right finances ready before making the jump

Know that with investment there always are risks so be prepared and accept that there will be challenges
Remember that every journey is a learning process – learn from each experience (both positive and negative) and look forward to the future
Thinking too much can obstruct your decision process. Once you consider all the risks and make your own evaluation and assessment, take action quickly before the opportunity slips away. These things can’t be predicted so be prepared.
